Conference Topics We have the pleasure to announce the organization of India Water Week 2013 during 8-12 April 2013 focusing on the theme, “Efficient Water Management: Challenges and Opportunities”.
Management of water in an efficient manner affects not only the irrigation sector, which is presently the largest consumptive use of water resources, but also other major sectors like energy production – hydro as well as thermal, industrial production of key inputs like steel, cement etc., and urban and rural drinking water supply. Realizing that the water resources are a single entity, which are shared by all the above sectors out of a common pool of utilizable water, the event has adopted a three streams approach to develop a dialogue in the areas of :
• Agriculture and Irrigation Sector
• Energy generation (Hydro & Thermal), Industrial Production and Demand Management
• Urban and Rural Water Supply, quality, quantity and re-cycling/regeneration issues
The Ministry have specially selected this theme as a number of initiatives have been taken up by the Government in the area of improvement of water use efficiency and infrastructure improvement. Overview of the initiatives taken is given here.
Each of the stream will run in parallel for the duration of the conference i.e. 3 days and each stream will have a set of sessions/ workshops/ brain storming sessions running in parallel on each day. For more details, visit our Programme page.
