A total of 70 residents of the Hürriyet neighborhood in the Süleymanpaşa district went to several hospitals with complaints of vomiting and diarrhea.

Although the exact reasons for the hospitalizations have yet to be confirmed, local reports suggest that the patients’ symptoms could have been caused by contamination of the water supply.

The Tekirdağ Waterworks Authority announced that it could not chlorinate the city’s water distribution center due to a recent power cut, which may have led to contamination. “Those who drank tap water may have been affected,” deputy head of the Tekirdağ Waterworks Authority İbrahim İçöz said.
