Water is a crucial component to sustainable development, especially in typically arid, developing nations like Namibia. Subject to low rainfall and general water resources and water resource distribution, Namibia will commemorate World Water Day and World Wetlands Day to raise awareness on the importance of water in an ever-improving social infrastructure. Under the themes “Water and Sustainable Development” and “Wetlands for our Future” (respectively), World Water Day and World Wetlands Day hope to remind the public of the increasing pressure exerted on the vulnerable and limited freshwater resources.
