Flint Water Crisis: Let Them Drink Pollution?

Flint has the second highest poverty rate in the United States and a population over 50% black. It had lead in its water supply up to 866 times the legal limit. Some households had so much contamination that the United States Environmental Protection Agency classified the water as toxic waste. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder appointed an emergency manager with the power to override the city’s elected officials. The emergency manager switched Flint’s water source to the Flint River in 2014.
