TV personality Mike Greeny from ESPN’s Mike & Mike brought attention to water pollution near Rio de Janeiro. Rio de Janeiro was slated to host the 2016 Summer Olympics from August 5 to August 21. Before the 2016 Summer Olympics, Greeny got #RioWaters to trend on Twitter. Garbage visibly floats in Guanabara Bay, which would be where world athletes competed.
