Greig Seeks to Fix Water Pollution From Road Salt

Three New York towns endure contaminated groundwater caused by salt needed to maintain roads. Two towns, Orleans and Pitcairn, blame the contamination on the New York Department of Transportation. The Town of Greig, however, has asked for help because its newly drilled well still tests high for salt and chloride. Greig used to store salt outdoors near its municipal building. No local houses have been harmed but fixing the problem will require digging a deeper well or a $10,000 purification system. Read more here:
