Bennington Former Manufacturing Site Near 30 Private Wells with PFOA over Legal Limit

Near a former manufacturing site in North Bennington, Vermont, nearly 30 private well samples returned water contamination levels above the legal limit for perfluorooctanoic acid, or PFOA. Although Vermont has set the acceptable levels at 20 parts per trillion, the contaminated private wells tested between 38 and 2,270 parts per trillion. The contamination from a former ChemFab site did not appear to have harmed the municipal water supply. Among other health problems, studies have linked PFOA to low birth weights, high blood pressure, and liver and testicular cancer. Read more here:
