The Tibetan Plateau has long been a place of importance concerning water to the nations surrounding it. Because the Tibetan Plateau has the ice-filled Himalayas, it is a vital water source to growing nations such as China and India. The ice melting in a continuous cycle has provided a somewhat steady source of water for certain parts of the surrounding nations. However, the plateau now faces danger due to pollution and management problems. As such, there have been efforts to revive the area.
