A public meeting was recently held concerning the water contamination in Security, Widefield and Fountain. The contamination was most likely caused by toxic chemicals that came from the nearby Peterson Air Force in Colorado Springs. One of the most common questions asked was on the idea of self-filtering. Reverse osmosis filters are the most recommended for dealing with the chemicals, but the idea of carbon filters has been suggested as well. The public meeting is also said to go over the locations which are most affected by contamination. Colorado’s health department has developed a working map that shows affected areas but officials warn citizens that the might not be entirely accurate.
