The Navesink River has been seeing high levels of fecal matter and other types of pollution. At the time this report was written, the source of this fecal matter, be it humans, birds, or animals, was not fixed. It has been affecting the fish of the river a lot, the report states. People who see the river as a special home claim that the fecal issue is something that needs to be dealt with quickly. Being specific, the contaminant is fecal coliform, a subgroup of bacteria which includes E. Coli. The main suspects for the contamination are the faulty sewage system and runoff from storm-water.
