CDTSC Tries to Help California Residents Who Are Also Suffering From Lead Contamination

The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (CDTSC) is the agency responsible for addressing lead problems. California, much like Flint, Michigan, has been facing a lead problem for years now. Unfortunately, unlike Flint officials haven’t been able to get blood tests of civilians in areas of concern and instead have resorted to using soil tests. The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (CDTSC) hasn’t been able to access records in health agencies due to privacy concerns. The main suspect for lead pollution in a particular area of concern, Vernon, California, is the Exide battery plant. Reports say it has been releasing lead into the environment for many decades. Lead contamination may lead to brain problems, developmental delay, ADHD, hearing problems, and reduction in growth. Read more here:
