Thyroid Problems and Cancer Risk from Contaminated Drinking Water in Ohio River Valley

A study done by The Harvard Chan School of Public Health found that over six million Americans are dependent on drinking water supplies that are chemically contaminated, the main contaminant being PFOA. Thirteen states around the Ohio River Valley, including Ohio, Kentucky, and West Virginia have been marked with sites that have high degrees of water contamination. Perfluorinated chemicals have been linked to liver and testicular cancer, along with a variety of thyroid problems. Estimates suggest that even with the best water filtration systems, it will take approximately two hundred years to decontaminate the water. Read more about it here:
