Another incident of PFOS contaminating the water supply near a naval base happened at Whidbey Island. Samples of wells across the island show that the potentially contaminated wells have doubled over the past two weeks. PFAS are a chemical used in a common fire suppression fluid. The army is still investigating more sites for contamination but for the mean-time, they are offering to do free tests for many of the residents. Residents who are found to have a contamination problem will be given bottled water by the navy.
