Although, you cannot buy water as an asset but you can invest in water-related industries. Three of the largest drivers of an expanding water economy are population, agriculture, and aging water infrastructure. The American Society of Civil Engineers predicts that America’s public and private sectors will need to invest $2.98 billion in wastewater and $1 trillion in drinking water systems. There are four ways to invest: (1) buy water rights to a lake, river, or aquifer, (2) buy water-rich farmland, or (3) buy into water-related businesses that will benefit from the growing demand for fresh, safe water.
