However, most modern water treatment methods (i.e. ultraviolet irradiation and filtration) are effective in removing the viruses. Several tests conducted by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California proved that the current water treatment methods in the U.S are successful in removing current pathogens. However, many may wonder how this affects wastewater workers.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>How are companies protecting their workers?<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Current disinfecting methods used by wastewater companies are sufficient against Covid-19, according to the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) .\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Companies are educating their employees on the different chemicals used for wastewater disinfection.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Companies are instructing wastewater workers to use appropriate equipment, wastewater chemicals, and personal protection (i.e. gloves and masks).\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><b>References<\/b><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water Environment Federation.
